This week at The Lip Liberation HQ we have been treating our lips to a little coconut palm sugar in the guise of Kathy Sue-Ann’s Organic Lip Scrub. Hopefully we all know the importance of exfoliating our complexions but what about our pout? Our lips are often the first place to show dehydration which can result in sore, dry flakey lips, which are hard to shift. Using an exfoliant can smooth them out which in turn helps our lip balms work harder. They are also amazing to use before any kind of lip colour to help it glide on and look better for longer.
Step in this little pot of sweet sweet loveliness. It smells delicious – disclaimer – you may want to eat it.. We did. Not the whole pot, just licked our lips – a lot. Luckily enough all the ingredients are edible, so not a problem if a little is ingested! A little goes a long way and it can be a bit messy so over your sink is a great place to do it. Scoop a tiny bit out and gently massage into your lips – gentle is a key word as sugar can be quite abrasive and your lips are very sensitive. The coconut and sweet almond oil help to soften it though so lips get a real treat and feel lovely and smooth after. Kathy Sue-Ann has used coconut palm sugar as opposed to just regular sugar as it contains more goodness and indulges those lips a little more. There is a very simple line up in the rest of the ingredients list –
Organic palm sugar, cocos nucifera (extra virgin coconut oil), prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond oil), tocopherol (Vitamin E).
Follow your treatment with a good balm to lock in moisture. Try a double act with Kathy Sue-Ann’s lip balm which is another winner with us. It melts on the lips but without any heaviness, leaving them feeling very comfortable and soft. There is no flavour as such, just the scent and taste of the lovely ingredients which are as follows –
cera alba (beeswax), cocos nucifera (organic virgin coconut oil), butyrospermum parkii (organic shea butter), theobroma cacao (organic cocoa butter), prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond oil), vitis vinifera (grapeseed oil), persea gratissima (virgin avocado oil), a-Tocopherol (vitamin E).
Kathy Sue-Ann’s is a small natural and organic skincare range, handmade in London. All ingredients are sourced from UK suppliers.
