Winter seems to have set it in and everywhere is a little bit dry and in need of extra moisture. Lips always seem to bear the brunt of the cold weather. Even if you’re using a good lip balm with good ingredients, lips will still get dry and flakey – especially after Christmas, when you might be a little more dehydrated than usual. So what can we do to make our pouts more kissable?
There is the old trick of applying lots of balm and then gently scrubbing lips with an old toothbrush – an old trick but a good trick. Or, a much more fun way is to use the Popcorn Lip Scrub from Lush. It has an ingredient list which is so good you can literally eat it, which is handy as you inevitably do. Castor sugar is at the top followed by jojoba oil, sea salt, polenta, coconut oil and popping candy flavour. It smells divine, it really is a little pot of sugar coated in some good oils.
Scoop a little out and start to massage it gently into the lips, apply more pressure on drier areas to help shift any loose skin. It can get messy so have a face wipe on hand to wipe any excess away. Once you’ve scrubbed, apply a generous helping of your favourite balm to finish your treatment. The scrub leaves lips a lot smoother and softer, whether you’re wearing a natural lip or a bright lip it makes them look and feel much better.
